On August 8, the Bay Area Dragons held a Model Exhibition in the Mitchell Park Library in Palo Alto. There were some 10 families that came, and it was a great experience for everyone. The newcomers learned about how models can help with focus and endurance. We hope to see you all at our next meeting!
Between July 22 and 25, the 2015 IPMS Nationals were held in Columbus, Oregon. There was a very high amount of competition, but some of the Bay Area Dragons placed in competition. The Bay Area Dragons achieved 4 third place awards, 1 second place, and 1 first place. Overall, everyone did a great job, and we hope to see everyone at our next meeting.
We have just finished the Summer Program today! It was a big success having eight children ages varying from fifth grader to high schooler! We are really proud of those who are new to modeling, and are also really glad on meeting those new IPMS Junior Members! I will be uploading pictures from the Summer camp and various models they have completed, completing. From here, we really want to thank Thinktank Learning, for letting us borrow the modeling room. We really appreciate your help and support!
Besides the successes in the Summer Camp, the Nationals are coming up next week!!! Are you guys ready? We hope all contestant who will be competing best of luck! Our club President, Lily, would be going to the Nationals in person. For those who will not be able to attend, be sure to check out the Nationals pictures around next week! Hello everyone,
The Bay Area Dragons IPMS junior club has not met in the past month due to a busy period of finals with the club leadership. We might have a few meetings in the summer, but it will not be at our original location of JLS middle school. Also, there is a scale modeling competition this Saturday at Santa Rosa from 9:30 am to 4 pm. For more information see the link below: http://www.ipmssonomacounty.org/contest_details.html Thanks and have a wonderful summer! On April 26, the Bay Area Dragons had their meeting at JLS. A few new faces showed up, and everyone enjoyed making the models very much. For those that have came before, we now have new models, including the A-10 Warthog, a crowd favorite, and a small yellow convertible car for younger participants. Our next meeting will be late May, we hope to see you there! Yesterday, we hosted our March Meeting of the Bay Area Dragons at JLS once again. Many thanks to JLS for letting us borrow their classrooms for our meetings. This time, we had to move to room P-70 instead of the usual room 730 due to custodial difficulties. We now have new models directly shipped from IMPS. We also have a new kind of model that is fit for younger kids. We hope you will come to try them out next meeting in April. Last weekend, we participated in a community event at the Sandpiper Community center in Redwood Shores. There were a lot of young kids there for all kinds of activities, including a free dinner, a martial arts performance, games, and our scale modeling activities. Everyone had lots of fun!
